From the moment I parked, I knew this hotel would be something truly special. The sheer elegance of the building left me speechless; it exudes history and sophistication with every detail. The style and décor were impeccably designed to reflect the property's period, with vibrant colors and tasteful touches that showcase an incredible understanding of mixing comfort, elegance, and charm. The room was absolutely sublime—every detail had been carefully thought out. From the phenomenally comfortable bed to the luxurious White Company shower gel in the bathroom, it was clear that immense care and attention had been given to create a truly exceptional experience. The coffee machine, the thoughtful layout, and the little finishing touches set this hotel apart from corporate chains. The welcome upon arrival was warm and inviting, yet the atmosphere remained beautifully private and tranquil throughout my stay. It felt like home, but with an extra layer of sophistication and style. Words genuinely fail to capture how much I enjoyed my stay here. Every element was designed with thought and care, making it an unforgettable experience.

I want to give a fair review so… The hotel is amazing, the staff welcoming and happy to help. The food was good and the rooms, shared lounges and dining areas immaculate. HOWEVER, be careful when booking your room. The website suggests that both classic and deluxe rooms ‘..have great views of our grounds’ and this is most definitely not the case. Our room was in an annexe away from the main house and only reached by walking through an outdoor courtyard. (At no point was this mentioned prior to arrival or anywhere on the website). The view was of the car park and service area, not of the beautiful grounds. Additionally the hotel sits in its grounds in a dip just off the busy A142 road - this road can be heard from our room 24/7 and from wherever you are when in the grounds - not at all ‘tranquil and peaceful’. A real shame for what otherwise was a great stay. Read less

My wife and I had an excellent 2 night break here to visit Ely and Cambridge. The hotel had a suitably old world charm as would be expected of its age but with modern touches that kept it from being "twee". Lots of comfortable seating areas by roaring log fires. The bedroom was comfortable and spacious and the en-suite was huge (not the usual cupboard converted to a shower one often finds). No lack of heating in the room, you will not go cold! The restaurant served good quality food (booking essential) and an excellent breakfast in the morning. The highest praise goes to the staff who were amazing. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. None of the false smiles, people genuinely interested in the conversations they had with you. It truly is a friendly, family owned and run hotel. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed in November, during the off-season, only about three to four rooms were reserved, making the place exceptionally quiet. Antonina greeted us warmly when we arrived. We were delighted with our beautiful, well-lit room; however, the heater was turned off, so it took a little time to warm up. The grounds were stunning, and the location was convenient, being close to Ely. There were many cozy areas where we could sit to read, chat, or play cards. The bathroom was spacious, featuring a large tub and shower. The bed was very comfortable and came with plenty of pillows to choose from. Overall, the atmosphere was very peaceful.

I was upgraded to a larger room than I'd booked (lovely surprise!) which had a balcony and stunning views over the grounds and back towards the cathedral. The room was pristine with an added bonus of a capsule coffee machine (which also dispensed hot water for tea). The bathroom was large and the shower was decent (it leaked a little but the pressure was pretty good). The room did get a little warm overnight but an electric fan was in the room which did the trick. There was plenty of parking and the location wasn't bad for driving into Cambridge (about 30 minutes in morning rush hour).
